Air Europa Business Class Amenity Kit
A Business Class amenity collection combining sustainable materials with understated design and Italian skincare.
Context
As Design Lead at WESSCO International, I led the design and development of Air Europa’s Business Class amenity kits in partnership with Comfort Zone, an Italian skincare brand recognised for its science-based, sustainable formulations.
The program launched in two phases, evolving from a pouch made from vegan cork leather to an updated recycled leatherette version. The objective was to create a premium amenity kit that balanced sustainability, durability, and long-term reusability while complementing Air Europa’s onboard experience.
Challenge
Air Europa wanted to refresh its Business Class amenity program with a design that reflected its sustainability ambitions and premium positioning.
The challenge was creating a reusable product that felt understated and timeless while integrating Comfort Zone’s skincare products into a cohesive passenger experience. As the program evolved, the design also needed to improve durability without losing its original material-led character.
Our Approach
Designing with Material First
The collection was intentionally minimal, allowing material, texture, and construction to become the defining design features. Clean forms and restrained detailing created a premium aesthetic without unnecessary embellishment.
Evolving the Collection
The first iteration featured vegan cork leather, chosen for its natural appearance and sustainability credentials. The second introduced recycled leatherette, improving durability, finish quality, and long-term performance while maintaining the original design language.
Integrating the Brand Partnership
The kits were developed alongside Comfort Zone’s skincare collection, pairing face moisturizer and body lotion with standard travel essentials to create a cohesive onboard experience.
Refinement Through Sampling
Working closely with WESSCO’s sourcing teams and Comfort Zone, I refined materials, colour matching, branding, and construction through multiple sampling rounds to ensure consistent production quality.
