A children’s travel kit bringing Moomin’s timeless storytelling to EVA Air’s family travel experience.

Context

As Design Lead at WESSCO International, I led the creative direction and product development of EVA Air’s new children’s amenity kit in collaboration with Moomin. The program launched in July 2026, introducing a custom collection designed exclusively for EVA Air’s youngest passengers.

WESSCO introduced the Moomin partnership to EVA Air before working closely with both teams to develop a bespoke onboard collection. Rather than adapting existing retail products, the project centred on creating an exclusive travel kit that combined Moomin’s distinctive visual identity with EVA Air’s premium family experience.

The final collection includes a custom backpack, luggage tag, activity book, colour pencils, and travel accessories designed to engage children throughout their journey.

Challenge

The challenge was creating a children’s travel kit that remained authentic to the Moomin brand while meeting EVA Air’s operational requirements and product standards.

Every item needed to feel playful, practical, and cohesive, balancing licensed character artwork with functional travel products that children would continue using beyond the flight.

Our Approach

Developing an Exclusive Collection

Working with EVA Air and Moomin, I led the development of a custom product collection designed specifically for airline use. Rather than relying on existing merchandise, each product was developed to create a cohesive onboard experience unique to the partnership.

Integrating the Moomin Brand

The collection was designed around Moomin’s established visual language, carefully applying licensed artwork across each product while maintaining consistency in colour, graphics, and product detailing.

Designing for Young Travellers

The final kit includes a backpack, luggage tag, activity book, and colour pencils, providing children with practical travel products alongside activities that encourage engagement throughout the flight.

Sampling and Production

Working closely with WESSCO’s sourcing teams, EVA Air, Moomin, and manufacturing partners, I refined materials, graphics, construction, and product quality through multiple rounds of sampling before production.
